Home Treatment for Covid-19

Well, today i am writing an article not on online earning or passive income, i will be writing an article on Covid-19 or the famous known deadly coronoavirus.  This is the worst pandemic, which has hit the world in the last 100 years.  Due to this pandemic, more than 80% of the globe is under lockdown.

Not sure how many covid waves we will have to face.

People cannot move freely, schools are shut, malls are shut, offices are shut, business have come down and the entire economy has come to a standstill.  There are some studies going on the treatment and vaccine but i think, it might take some more years to get a permanent cure.

Because of this pandemic more than 30 million people have been infected with this deadly virus and close to 0.9 million people have died.

In US alone, more 6.7 million people have been infected and there are no ways to stop this virus.  What i will disclosing will shock most of you.

Most of you will not believe but you do not have to take any medicine if you are infected with Covid-19.  It can be self-treated at home and that to without taking any medicines.  Why I am so confident is because I was infected with this virus couple of weeks back and in fact, some of my close friends also got infected.

And, we didn’t took any medicine, the virus was active for a week and it went away in few days, though I tried some home treatment which were effective and I will share the same in this blog.

Treating your most common symptom of Covid - Cough

Coughing is the most common symptoms of covid-19, if there are 10 patient of covid-19 then at least 9 patient will have coughing symptoms.  It is very difficult to differentiate between a viral cough or a covid cough.  But, there are some home remedies which everyone should try so that you can at least clear the cough part from your body.

If you have cough, it is best to avoid lying on your back.  Instead, lie on your side or sit upright.  To help to ease your cough, boil 2 cups of water with honey, lemon, garlic and ginger.  Drink as hot as you can.  Honey does the soothing and lemon can clear the congestion.  You can also add peppermint leaves in it, peppermint are well known for their healing properties.  Menthol in peppermint soothes the throat and act as a decongestant, helping to break down the mucus.

Apart from this, one needs to drink plenty of water or fluids and stay hydrated.

Symptoms of Covid 19 may differ from person to person or even from country to country. A person staying US may have some other symptoms as compared to a person staying in Europe or Asia.

But, Above are the most common and major symptoms which one should look out for!

Treating your second most common symptom of Covid - Fever

If you are infected with covid-19, there are chances that you may get fever between 100 – 102 F (Fahrenheit).  You get fever because your body is fighting with the coronavirus infection.  According to Indian ayurveda, herbs play an important role in treating fever.  Some of the herbs are garlic, neem, basil, ginger, black pepper and cloves.

Garlic – Garlic has antibacterial properties, garlic has sulphurous compounds which are antibacterial and antifungal.  The warm nature of garlic can also lower fever by promoting sweating.  Crush 1 garlic clove and add it to 1 cup of hot water.  Let it rest for 10 minutes, and then strain.  Drink this twice a day for better results.

Ginger – Ginger can prove to be an aid to a plenty of your health woes like cold, flu, inflammation, sore throat and fever.  Its natural antiviral and antibacterial elements help fight infection in your body and bolster your immunity.  You can have grated ginger in tea or take it with honey.  Have at least two to three times a day for better results.

Treating your third most common symptom of Covid - Breathlessness

This could be a serious symptom if you are infected with covid-19, it is more serious for elder people.  Despite it is a common symptom in Covid-19, it can be uncomfortable and distressing.  i will share some of the home remedies which one must try at home.

Deep breathing – Breathing in deeply through the abdomen can help someone manage their breathlessness.  One should lie down, putting their hands on their abdomen.  Breathe in deeply through their nose, expanding their abdomen and letting the lungs fill with air, hold breathe for couple of seconds.

Pursed-lip breathing – Another breathing exercise that can help to relieve shortness of breath.

To try pursed-lip breathing at home, a person should:

Sit upright in a chair with their shoulders relaxed.

Press the lips together, keeping a gap between them in the middle.

Inhale through their nose for a couple of seconds.

Gently exhale through their pursed lips for a count of four.

Carry on inhaling and exhaling in this way for 10 minutes.

Inhaling Steam – Inhaling steam can help to clear the nasal passage so that one can breathe easily.  Heat and moisture from steam may also break down mucus in the lungs, which might also reduce breathlessness.  To try steam inhalation at home, one should:

1) Fill a bowl with boiling hot water.

2) Add few drop of peppermint or eucalyptus essential oil.

3) Place the face over the bowl and cover the head with the cloth or towel.

4) Take deep breathe, inhaling the steam.

Eating fresh ginger – Eating fresh ginger, or adding some to hot water as a drink, make also reduce shortness of breath caused by coronavirus infection.

Treating your fourth most common symptom of Covid - Loss of smell and taste

This is a new symptom which doctors have recently found it.  Around 40% of cases will have loss of smell and taste.  Loss of smell and taste is also referred as Ansomia.  Ansomia refers to a nasal condition when a person suffers from a loss of sense of smell and taste.  Anosmia generally occurs when the nerves transmitting signals from the nose to the brain after identifying a particular smell gets damaged due to some infection.

Castor Oil – The oil obtained from castor seeds portray powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, that discourage the growth of nasal polyps.  It is extremly effective in alleviating the symptoms like swelling and inflammation that takes place due to cough and cold and helps re-establish the sense of smell and taste.

Mint leaves – Take 10 to 15 peppermint leaves, add them in 1 cup of water and boil.  Strain the solution once it cools down, add some honey.  Drink it immediately.  The main constituent of peppermint leaves is menthol.  It is anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial, which can alter your sense of smell and taste.
